Moving is never an easy task. The thought of moving a child's outdoor wooden play set may leave you with thoughts of leaving it behind. You don't need to. While it is possible to move a smaller play set on a flatbed truck, a larger one will require more preparation. While moving it may be a bit of a challenge, you can break it down into smaller components without having to take the entire play set apart.

How to Move a Play Set

• Evaluate your play set. Look at how the play set is put together to determine what are the fewest possible separations you need. This means taking sections apart that will allow the play set to move in flat sections. Key sections to examine for removal are the monkey bars or any cross bar, slides, and swings. This eliminates moving parts and oddly shaped sections that are cumbersome to move when attached.

• Unscrew the slide from the clubhouse.

• Unscrew the crossbar or monkey bars. Unscrew it from the ladder on one end and the clubhouse on the other. If your play set has no monkeybars or clubhouse, unscrew the crossbar from the triangular ends that support the swings.

• Measure the height and width of the clubhouse. Make sure that the clubhouse will fit in the moving van one way or another. If the height is too tall, you may be able to lay it on its side. If neither is feasible, determine what will need to be taken apart. You may be able to get away with just taking the roof off. Most play sets won't need the clubhouse taken apart.
