Kids cheap playground equipment
Building the ultimate playset with all the possible components is probably not feasible for the average homeowner. In addition to the cost factor, space and safety are important considerations. Not all playset components are built for the same type of kid, so be aware of your child's likes and dislikes before adding one of these components.
Rope Ladder
-
A rope ladder can be good exercise and a lot of fun but is probably not appropriate for younger children. You can increase the safety of a rope ladder by using nylon rather than natural-fiber rope material. Doing this will cut down on rope burns, and nylon doesn't break as easily as rope.
Bridge
-
Kids love to cross over a bridge, and you have two options with this component. You can build a suspended bridge that bounces slightly up and down. Swaying bridges should have handrails, no matter how tame you may think the swaying is. You also have the option of an arched bridge made of molded plastic.
Slide
-
No playset is complete without a slide. Avoid metal slides, as they get quite hot and can burn exposed skin. Molded plastic slides are available; these can provide a simple ride downward or a circular, winding ride. You may also opt for a tunnel slide, in which the child goes through a tube on the way down.
Telescope
-
A telescope is a great component for activating a child's imagination. Place the telescope at the highest point of the playset that can be reached by the child. This small and very affordable addition can transform the playset into a pirate ship or an alien observatory.outdoor playground equipment
Tire Swing
-
A playset can have an old-fashioned tire swing that provides fun for the kids and a sense of nostalgia for parents who grew up with a tire swing. Premade tire swings use a specialized tire rather than just a discarded automobile tire. Chains or nylon rope are more durable for connecting the tire swing than plain old rope.
Climbing Walls
-
Climbing walls for playsets have gotten quite sophisticated over the years. Simple screw-on grips that attach to a wall made of wooden planks are more appropriate for younger kids. An actual climbing wall made with stone veneer to give it the authentic look of a rocky mountainside is also an option; even your teenager might use it, if it is tall enough.
Swingset
-
Swings come with many playsets, but they can also be added later to an existing playset. Look for a playset that offers a variety of swing types; options include belt swings, trapeze rings and a two-person glider.
Monkey Bars
-
Monkey bars still retain their appeal and make an excellent addition to a playset. Monkey bars allow children to cross over the ground one bar at a time and can become a do-it-yourself project, if you are handy.outdoor playground equipment
