Swing sets are a common fixture in many backyards across the country. Families can enjoy a swing set together and it is an effective place for kids to play outside and be active without venturing too far from the house. While using swings is generally a safe activity when they are used correctly, care must be taken to ensure the set stays in optimal condition. The swing set must be properly anchored to ensure it doesn't sway or tip when a swing is in motion. Stabilizing a swing set takes some time but is worth the effort.
Ensure your swing set is located on level ground. If it is lopsided in any way, the set is much more likely to tip. The ground should also be firm without much give to it.outdoor play structures
-
Hammer metal spikes into the dirt to create the holes that the swing set anchors will be screwed into. The holes need to align with the legs in the swing set, which should already have holes in them to accommodate anchors.
-
Thread the anchors through the legs of the swing set and twist them in with a straight rod all the way until they penetrate the ground. Most swing sets come with anchors designed for that particular set. You can otherwise get them from a hardware store.
Cover the heads of the anchors with foam or protective rubber to help prevent injury hazards.outdoor play structures
